Melee

Melee weapons are weapons like swords, knives, and chainsaws.  In the Madlands, melee weapons are used a lot by Brutes and Wraiths, while not always.  Other classes can use melee weapons, of course, but typically don't have many skills that are used with them. Unique to the Madlands, melee weapons CAN have attachments, and have just as many to choose from as guns.

Every melee weapon has a unique set of 5 different attacks. Each attack has something that makes it unique from other attacks. Some attacks have different names but do the same thing as other attacks (indicated by Name1/Name2). This is because a baseball bat can't slash someone, a machete can't bash someone, etc. The different attacks a weapon can have are listed below.

Slash/Maul: Fast attack.

Lunge: Long-ranged attack.

Chop/Crack: Extra critical chance.

Bash: Extra knock-back attack. Exclusive to Blunt weapons.

Assassinate/Ambush: Deals an instant critical hit when you hit an enemy from behind.

Lacerate/Trauma: Causes the enemy to bleed heavily, dealing damage over time.

Sweep: Causes enemies to trip, incapacitating them for 2 seconds. Once the enemy recovers, they are slowed for a short time.

Smash: Strong attack that disorients enemies, blurring their vision and darkening their screen.

Tornado: An attack that hits enemies on both sides at the same time.

Air Strike Fast attack that can be used in mid-air. Melee weapons without this special attack cannot attack in mid-air without certain class skills.

Split: A very slow attack, but instantly kills when it hits. Exclusive to heavy melee weapons.

UpgradesEdit

Melee upgrades work a bit differently than gun upgrades. To start, there are only 3 stats to upgrade. While you may be thinking this is a bad thing, it actually means that there is a higher maximum upgrade limit on each stat. The 3 stats that melee weapons get to upgrade are whatever the 3 different kinds of attacks they have are. Shown below is what about each move is upgraded:

Slash: Increases speed.

Lunge: Increases range.

Chop/Crack: Increases critical chance.

Bash: Increases distance enemies are knocked back.

Assassinate/Ambush: Increases overall critical damage for the weapon this move belongs to.

Lacerate: Increases rate at which enemies take damage.

Tornado: Increases use speed.

Sweep: Increases amount of time enemies are slowed down after recovering.

Smash: Increases time enemies are disoriented.

Air Strike: Decreases stamina used when jumping with the weapon this move belongs to is equipped.

Split: Decreases amount of time before the attack hits.
